Why Chardonnay and Breast Cancer?
Women buy two bottles of Chardonnay for every one bottle of all other varietals combined. Because Women are the most active supporters in the Breast Cancer community it makes sense to pair the pink ribbon with the most popular varietal for Women. The demographic of women that are the most generous towards charitable organizations (35-60 years old) also tend to choose Chardonnay as their varietal of choice disproportionately to the entire gender in general.

And 40,970 women are expected to die in 2006 from this disease.i

Why Merlot and AIDS
Merlot is one of the most popular varietals in general. Within the Gay community Merlot tends to be one of the top two varietals of choice in mostly all studies. The Gay community is also the most involved and directly affected by the AIDS virus in the U.S.. It makes sense that Merlot would be paired with an AIDS charity.
AIDS statistics
- More than 25 million people have died of AIDS since 1981.
- Young people (15-24 years old) account for half of all new HIV infections worldwide – around 6,000 become infected with HIV every day.
- Of the 6.5 million people in developing and transitional countries who need life-saving AIDS drugs, only 1.3 million are receiving them.
Why Cabernet and Autism?
Generally men choose Cabernet over all other varietals. It makes sense to pair Cabernet with Autism because four in every five people affected by Autism is male. In addition, Autism tends to be one of the few causes that have as many men who show generous support for it as women. This is probably because it affects 1 in every 150 children, and for each child that has autism there is a mom and dad who is the parent of that child.
